On July 3rd, the Sunshine Maple Bear education system hosted an End-of-Year ceremony for the 2020-2021 school year with the theme "Reach For Stars". The ceremony aimed to send best wishes to generations of students, blessing them to thrive on their learning journey. After a successful school year with an innovative spirit, Sunshine Maple Bear is now ready for another year using the theme of “connecting”.
Imprints of the “Year of Innovation”
Due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, 2020–2021 is a special school year for education and Sunshine Maple Bear. Flexibility and adaptation were required in both teaching and learning activities to catch up with the “new normal”. Therefore, the End-of-Year Ceremony was also held in an extraordinary way. It was live-streamed on the Sunshine Maple Bear School Facebook Page with great interaction from a large group of parents, teachers and students of all grades.
Looking back at a school year with many difficulties and challenges, both teachers and students of the Sunshine Maple Bear system had overcome the obstacles due to the impact of the pandemic and social distancing regulations. They also adapted to move from in-person learning to online. Thanks to this flexible and practical transformation, teachers’ determination and the positive response of parents and students, the Sunshine Maple Bear system has “successfully hurdled” to the finish line. All goals of the 2020-2021 school year were met with 10 notable highlights in both teaching and learning activities.
The first success story is that the Sunshine Maple Bear system has endeavored to apply the theme “Year of Innovation” to the goals and orientations of the 2020-2021 school year. At the ceremony, the Sunshine Maple Bear representative emphasized that: “2020-2021 is the year of innovation. Together, teachers, parents, and students have created the Sunshine Maple Bear family with five core values: Independence, Respect, Empathy, Passion and Radiance. The students learned to be self-disciplined, independent and respectful of the environment or in their relationships. They also learned to empathize, love, share and “shine their own way”.
Every lesson gave students a chance to develop both their talents and character. Students from Maple Bear have achieved high rankings in International Math contests, World School Debate competitions, etc. They also developed skills through interactive playgrounds or learned to share by sending compassionate gifts to other students from the Central regions when their houses had been damaged.
Another highlight of the 2020-2021 school year success is the achievements of Sunshine Maple Bear students in international competitions. For the very first time, a student won awards in the TSL International Essay Competition and became one of the two students representing Vietnam to participate in the International Debate Competition.
“The Covid-19 pandemic has had great impacts on the school’s learning and teaching activities. Many plans have been put on hold or incomplete,” the representative of Sunshine Maple Bear talked about the resilient year of overcoming countless challenges. “However, we have made it thanks to our adaptability, stability and bravery, so that when we look back at the journey last year, students can be proud of their most unique and precious time”.
At the ceremony, the school also expressed gratitude to all Sunshine Maple Bear’s grandparents, parents, and families of students. “Your support will always be our source of motivation for the school to become the second home of our dear students.”
Prepare for the journey of “Connection” for future global citizens
With the theme of innovation, the 2020-2021 school year taught Sunshine Maple Bear students the core values: Independence, Respect, Empathy, Passion and Radiance. In this new school year, the international education system chose the new theme “Connection”. With this open topic, Sunshine Maple Bear has added new baggage to their students’ journey to help them develop their abilities and qualities, getting ready to conquer the new summits of knowledge.
From the school year of 2021-2022, Sunshine Maple Bear will introduce “Digital Citizen”, a new English subject from the Maple Bear Global program. The course is applied to the international program to help students gain necessary skills to enter the digital and technology world. At the same time, the Sunshine Maple Bear system also started to bring in the borderless classroom model, connecting thousands of students in the Maple Bear community from different countries in global scaled discussions.
Aligned with the theme of Connection, from the 2021-2022 school year, Sunshine Maple Bear system officially receives enrollment for secondary school. This is a milestone in the journey of creating an uninterrupted education path, from preschool, elementary school to secondary school. Educational philosophies will also be developed in a complete circle, from incubation to potential discovery. This strategy helps maintain a seamless and consistent adaptation of the Canadian and Vietnamese educational quintessence.
Using the Year of Connection as a guideline, the Sunshine Maple Bear Education system is ready for a new journey, promising spectacular breakthroughs from its modern curriculum and professional investment. The system utilizes the international education brand impression and elevates the connections between the school, parents, and community, as well as the relationships between Vietnam’s education system and the global Maple Bear network.. As such, Sunshine Maple Bear not only provides a thorough development for individuals but also brings happiness and confidence to students for them to shine as 21st-century global citizens.
